Health Care
Dalit's Are often unable to receive proper health care due to insufficient finances, caste discrimination, or lack of knowledge about proper health and hygiene.
A natural complement to the Shimoga Project is the opportunity to provide the village with basic public health awareness, vaccinations, and simple medical interventions. It will give them a level of human dignity they have never before experienced.
In phase II, we will train and place a Community Health Worker in the Shimoga Village. The cost will be $6,000. This will be an integral part of the transformation of the Village of Shimoga.

Economic Development
Another arm of the transformation of Shimoga will be to develop Dalit Self-Help groups where men and women in the village will learn valuable lessons about managing money, starting a business and to receive a fair-rate loan that will kick-start their private venture.
With further vocational training, Dalit's
can be confident of success in one of
the training areas, including
tailoring, computer skills, and bicycle
repair. Once the business is running, the loan will be repaid so another group member can do the same.
In phase II, we will work toward funding this program in the Shimoga Village. |
